Found robin's egg on the lawn (still blue, not cold and not cracked) incubating?

Hi, so I'm in canada (because I think it's illegal to take a bird's egg even if it was on the ground in the US (idk if it's the same in canada) and I found a robin's egg in the grass, so I picked it up and brought it home, and now it's in a container with a facecloth around it on top of a hot water bottle. I'm going to try and incubate it and when it's old enough let it go, if it's still alive or even fertile. So I was wondering how do you tell if it's alive? and also how to incubate it? I need to know ASAP! Thanks!
