Tattoos: If you were to get one...?

or already have one. I wanna know which is better... is it better to get a tattoo if it means something to you like a symbol or something tht represents a part of ur life? or is it still ok to get one if its just for the looks? because if i were to get one...i wouldnt wanna regret it at all. and in your opinion...do you think tatoos make u look trashy? what do you think?
