URGENT Streaking bacteria, loop remains empty...Is bacteria dead? HELP!?

When you grow Staphylococcus epidermidis it should appear white in color on the agar surface. IT may be that the cells are at too low of density to be visually see. You can try to streak out the plates and let them grow at 37 C overnight and see what grows. If you get nothing it means the bacteria or dead or the slant was never inoculated. As a last ditch effort you could try to add few milliliters of sterile phosphate buffered saline to the head space and shake vigorously for a few seconds. You could then do serial dilutions of this suspension and plate them out on agar plates. (incubate at 37 C overnight). If that doesn't work, you could always try to isolate some off your own body. I am sure it is there along with a lot of other cool stuff.
